I don’t know how I remained in total ignorance for so many years of the trend for the “Plank” exercise as a way to a flatter and more toned core body. Everyone I rave to about it has been planking for ages but no-one thought to share it with me. Note to self – change my friends.
I discovered it through a yoga book given to me by the daughter of a close friend. I figured if I want to reclaim the body of my distant past, perhaps yoga for teens was the answer! I am truly shocked by the results. The severe water retention I’ve had for months disappeared within 5 days. My love handles have less to cling on to. My clothes hang so much better and I don’t bloat as much after eating.
As with any exercise, you have to do the exercise carefully to avoid, with the plank in particular, back injuries. This YouTube video shows you the pitfalls to avoid.
How am I doing? I can hold the plank for about 70 seconds. Next week’s target – 75 seconds and selling the slendertone on e-Bay. Couch exercise is no greater than couch potato!
