My 4-Week Wine Diary – Week 1

Last week I announced my 4-week experiment to limit my consumption to 14 units of alcohol per week in an attempt to shrink the stomach flab. My supportive friends are currently wagering on how long I can survive the bandwagon.

I went out from work on Tuesday [Day 2] and drank almost a full bottle of red wine. Terrible start of 8-9 units in a single evening! My friends have a point. Still, I followed this up with several alcohol free days.

I went out for lunch on Friday [Day 5] and ordered a tonic water with lemon, minus the gin and NO WINE!  But I was driving so it wasn’t difficult to resist.

I had another half bottle of wine on Saturday [Day 6] bringing me to my weekly limit of 14. With Sunday being another alcohol-free day, I succeeded in Week 1 of the experiment.

But how do I feel? Bored actually – of counting – number of glasses of wine, units, alcohol and alcohol-free days. The anticipated smugness of success has not made its appearance and the stomach bulge has remained the same size and shape. Plus, I couldn’t bring myself to substitute any of my wine for a Gin and Slimline!

Will Week 2 be less boring and more effective? I’ll let you know. Cheers!

About Sneha

I am a pharmacist and homeopath and have advised people for many years on issues to do with health, weight and well being. My role has involved navigating my way through the burdensome and sometimes conflicting volume of information and advice from health experts about with what constitutes a healthy diet, what foods to avoid if you want to lose weight and the importance of exercise in weight control and maintaining health. Despite all this information being available, obesity in the UK continues to rise. Knowledge is one thing, but putting it into practice is another! Having lost 3 stones since the birth of my second child, people have been asking me how I did it. That's what has inspired me to write this blog and share my experiences in the hope that it inspires others to find their own path to achieving their health and beauty goals!
